Circa 1870's and in the historic revival style which was so, so fashionable in the mid to latter 19th century, a Maltese cross shaped pendant set with old, old 17th century hand cut Diamonds (which must have been recycled in the making of this piece) and matching earrings. Decorated with fine beaded wirework and tiny 'grainti' beads all in 15ct Gold (marked to the reverse) which was a standard used solely in the UK between 1854-1932 for better quality jewellery. Jewels such as this were inspired by those seen in museums which had been found in archaeological discoveries across Europe, in particular in Etruria, and lead to jewellers rediscovering 'lost' techniques such as these.

This is a set which was converted from an antique bar brooch by our clever jeweller, the pendant measures 17mm across and the earrings 2.3mm from the top of the wires. The 9ct Gold rope chain measures 18 inches and is included in the purchase.
